Begun before the separation of churches, The Order of the Orthodox Knights of St. John is the oldest historical Order of Knights Hospitaller based on lineage, legacy and humanitarian traditions and the Orthodox Branch of the Order was established in perpetuity by His Majesty, Emperor Paul I of Russia in 1798.

From its inception in aprox 1048ad, when the Order began the world’s first hospitals, it has been based on the service to humanity regardless of caste, creed, or ability to pay.  Considered the oldest humanitarian organization in existence, the Order provides emergency medical and disaster relief to those affected by calamities such as hurricanes, floods, famines, etc.  Among its projects, the Order helps fund orphanages and provides assistance to children with AIDS, tuberculosis and many other hardships.
